Didn’t think Sculpture above the sea, or even by the sea were good enough?
Well here is your new sculpture setting to get all excited about, but to see these you’re probably going to need your snorkel.
Developed by the highly acclaimed artist Jason Decaires Taylor, several concrete sculptures (the smallest weighing over 1 tonne) have been placed in various tropical sea beds around the world. Can Cun, Mexico and Grenada in the West Indies have been some of the carefully chosen locations, with depths as small as 5 –10 metres. Light is very important for photographing the change in these sculptures, which is why they have not been placed at deep underwater levels.

The design is not solely within the sculpture themselves (which are phenomenally realistic) rather, they are held in the new form given to each sculpture by the surrounding sea life. Check out his website here where you can see before and after shots of the sculptures!
